1 May 2009 - Summer Term Newsletter to Parents
April 2009
Dear Parent/Carer,
Welcome back to the Summer Term 2009 ! We are looking forward to a busy and productive final term of the year.
Firstly, may I thank all those parents and children who attended the Teaching for Learning evening at the end of last term. I hope you found it to be an interesting and successful event. If any parents or governors have completed questionnaires from the evening that they would like to return to school this can be done via the class teachers.
I would like to inform you of the appointment of two new parent governors, Joanne James and Alison Hobbs. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to them both and look forward to working with them in the near future. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Karen Carpanini for her services to our Governing Body over the last six years.
We are in the process of having the toilets in Areas Two and Three refurbished. I would like to thank you and the children for your patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
Following the success of the School Grounds Week that we held in the Autumn term, Mrs Wightman is organising a similar event for the week beginning 18th May. If you are able to assist us in any way in developing our school grounds (digging, planting, weeding, advice on plants etc. etc.) and have any spare time that week, please give your name to Mrs Evans in the office
We are planning to hold our Cultural Diversity day on 22nd May. If you are able to offer any expertise or workshops regarding different countries or cultures or if you are able to volunteer to help with any planned activities, please contact school. We would be very grateful for any help offered.
Mrs Rees is organising the Yellow Woods Challenge in school again this year as part of our work on the environment and sustainability. When you receive your new Yellow Pages Directory, if you could rip off the cover of your old one, put the inside in your household paper recycling and send the cover into school we will then be able to submit our tally for the recycling to the Yellow Woods Challenge.
Mrs Goodby has asked me to inform parents of year two children that from Monday 27th April the children will be dismissed in groups from the classroom at the end of the day. This is in preparation for their transition to year three in September. Children will then return to Mrs Goodby if there is no one outside to collect them.
Mrs Lisle is undertaking an art project with some of the children that requires the use of embroidery threads. If you have any old embroidery threads at home that you no longer need, Mrs Lisle would be very grateful if you could send them into school.
We are hoping for a sunny and pleasant Summer Term! Please could children bring in sun hats with their names on for use at playtimes. We would also like to make the most of our school grounds during this term and would appreciate it if children could have trainers or other suitable footwear in school.
Alison Evans, the school secretary, has registration forms available for both our Nursery and Reception classes for next year. If you have, or know of, any children who are approaching their third or fourth birthday and are not yet registered, please pick up a form from the school office.
